Squads & Rods Open Car Show:
First, Second & Third Place Trophies in Each Class
Come spend the day under the huge shade trees on Courthouse Square in downtown Golconda, IL.
The day's activities will begin at 8 a.m. with registration. Judging will be at 12 noon sharp with trophy presentation at 2 p.m.
First, Second, and Third place trophies will be awarded in each class.
Valve Cover Races
Any 4 cylinder, V-6, or V-8 gas engine valve cover (chrome and cast aluminum are OK) NO inline 6 cylinder valve covers please. It MUST NOT weigh more than 10 pounds total (weight may be added to achieve 10 pounds). Wheels can not be more than 5 inches in diameter (steel, ball bearings, rubber, etc. are OK). The Racer CAN NOT be more than 12 inches tall and NOT more than 15 inches wide from outside of tire to outside tire. Nothing can extend from the front of the valve cover. Sides, back, and top are allowed (wings and spoilers are OK). ABSOLUTELY NO ENGINES of any kind. This is a gravity fed track. Each person is allowed to run ONE valve cover only.

Creepers and helmets will be provided. Each racer MUST wear a helmet to participate. Racers will lay flat on their back and push the creeper with their feet. The person who reaches the finish line first will be declared the winner. This is a fun event and offers much entertainment for the youth.
Swap Meet
Space will be provided on the west side of the Courthouse for swap meet vendors to display their goods. This is a good opportunity to turn some of your old car parts into cash. There is NO FEE for setting up for the swap meet.
Growing each year, the Squads and Rods Open Car Show boasts over 100 entries last year and expects an even larger attendance this year.
The first 100 registered vehicles will be presented a dash plaque.
Concessions
Food concessions will be provided by local school groups and service organizations. Items such as grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks, and more will be available at a reasonable price.
Be sure to bring your camera, lawn chair and sunscreen and plan to spend the day in Golconda on Sunday, September 14th. Rain out date is October 19th.
